Magpies are strangely drawn to noggins of Gouda
Scientists speculate that life could be based on an element other than carbon. Most probably silicon, being the lightest element with an electronic structure analogous to that of carbon. Ha ha I hear you say; but will silicon based life forms like cheese?

magpies like to look at cheese. some years ago i had a slice of cheddar outside my window - almost every day for 7 months a magpie came to look at it, though they never tried to eat it - they just had a look and then went about their business.
if i were some cheese i would get eaten
