In the 16th century, Gloucester was twinned with a city made entirely from cheese. Hence the name 'Double Gloucester' came about for the local produce.

The wax from edam or the popluar "baby bel" can in fact be used as a modeling clay. I made my friend a gift by rolling a long sausage shape and adding 2 blobs of wax at one end - see what you can make.
